Server settings
The settings form
Type settings in the console. Up and Down choose a setting, Enter changes it (Yes/No settings switch), S saves, Esc leaves. The line at the bottom explains the chosen setting.
The games are listed below the server settings. Enter on a game changes it (or removes it from the server), and Add a game makes a new one.
After saving, the console offers to restart the server, which it needs to use the new settings. Players online are disconnected first, and their games save them.
lordsrv.ini
The settings are kept in lordsrv.ini in the server folder. You can edit it with Notepad instead; then type restart in the console. The first run writes it with the defaults and comments.
[Server]
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
Name | LORD Server | The server's name, on the log-in screen and the menus. |
TelnetPort | 23 | Where players connect by telnet. |
TelnetEnabled | 1 | 0 turns telnet off (BBSes can still use rlogin). |
RLoginPort | 513 | Where BBS doors connect. On a TWGS server 513 is usually taken: use another. |
RLoginEnabled | 1 | 0 turns rlogin off. |
Bind | (blank) | The address to listen on; blank means all of this computer's addresses. |
MaxConnections | 32 | How many can be connected at once. |
IdleMinutes | 10 | Disconnect anyone who types nothing for this long; 0 means never. |
AllowNewUsers | 1 | Telnet callers make their own accounts. 0: only accounts made with adduser. |
RLoginAllow | (blank) | Addresses allowed to rlogin without a key, comma separated (your BBS). none: keys only. Blank lets anyone rlogin in as any name. See Linking a BBS. |
BBSSignup | 1 | Other BBSes may sign up for a key (1.4). |
PublicAddress | (blank) | The address and rlogin port BBSes reach the server on, shown on the sign-up screen (bbs.example.com:513) (1.4). |

Sysops | (blank) | Account names that are sysops, comma separated (as well as sysop <name>). |
AdminPort | 2399 | The console's port, this computer only. 0 turns it off (then a service has no console). |
GameExe | lord.exe | The game. |
ConfigExe | lordcfg.exe | Its set-up program. |
DOSBox | dosbox\dosbox-x.exe | DOSBox-X, for the console's dos command. |
Template | template | The files a new game folder starts with. |
TextDir | text | Your own screens (see Screens). |
LogFile | lordsrv.log | The log. |
Paths that don't start with a drive letter or \ are in the server folder.
[Game A] to [Game Z]
One section per game. See Games.
[Game A] Name=Legend of the Red Dragon Dir=games\A MaxNodes=20 TimeLimit=60 Enabled=1
An example
The server on win2k22 at Kalgoorlie Retro:
[Server] Name=LORD Server TelnetPort=2300 TelnetEnabled=1 RLoginPort=5130 RLoginEnabled=1 Bind= MaxConnections=32 IdleMinutes=10 AllowNewUsers=1 RLoginAllow=10.0.0.46 BBSSignup=1 PublicAddress=bbs.theiguru.au:5130 Deny= Sysops= AdminPort=2399
TWGS has port 513 on that computer, so rlogin is on 5130. 10.0.0.46 is the Kalgoorlie Retro BBS; other BBSes link with keys.
If you change the ports, let them through your firewall (the installer's rule allows lordsrv.exe on any port), forward the new ones on your router, and change your BBS doors to match. See Network and firewall.
