====== LORD FP: Legend of the Red Dragon, Free Pascal edition ====== LORD FP is Legend of the Red Dragon rebuilt in Free Pascal. It is a line-by-line port of **lord.js**, Deuce's JavaScript LORD 5.02 that ships with Synchronet BBS, so it plays like LORD and like lord.js, with a number of lord.js bugs fixed (see differences). One source tree builds three versions: DOS, Linux and Windows. LORD Server uses the Windows build too. ^ Version ^ Download ^ What it is ^ | **DOS** | LORDFP.ZIP | A complete DOS LORD game: unzip it into an empty directory, run LORDCFG, and it is ready to play. It keeps LORD 4.06's file formats, so it can also be dropped into an existing LORD 4.06 game, whose players and IGMs carry on. On Synchronet for Linux it runs under dosemu2, like any DOS door. | | **Linux** | LORDFPL.ZIP | A complete native Linux LORD game: unzip it, run lordcfg, and add it to Synchronet. It reads and writes the same files as lord.js, so it can also take over an existing lord.js game. DOS LORD IGMs run from it under dosemu2. | | **Windows** | LORDFPW.ZIP | A complete 64-bit Windows LORD game: a DOOR32.SYS door for Synchronet, Mystic and other Windows BBSes (see windows). The same game files as the Linux version. DOS LORD IGMs run in DOSBox-X, which is included. LORD Server runs the same lord.exe. | | **Source** | LORDSRC.ZIP | The Free Pascal source for all three, with the build instructions (see building). It is also inside each of the zips above. | Downloads: https://games.theiguru.au/lordfp/, and the Heisenbergs Files area on the BBS. Each game zip is a complete game that installs from scratch. Nothing else is needed: each includes LORD 4.06's stock files (screens, scripts, docs and the data files IGMs look for). Upgrading an existing LORD 4.06 or lord.js game is optional and covered on each version's page. ===== Features ===== * The full single-BBS LORD: the forest, the Inn, Seth Able, Violet, the bank, Arthur's weapons, Abdul's armour, the healers, masters, the Red Dragon, player fights, marriage, children, mail, the daily news, the Dark Cloak Tavern, the dungeon and the fairies. * LORD 4.06's stock screens from LORDTXT.DAT when it is there. * LADY scripts: LORD 4.06's forest events, and LORD 4.07/4.08 scripts and events, installed with lordcfg (see lady_scripts). * DOS LORD 4.06 In-Game Modules in Other Places (see igms). * Every common drop file (see drop_files). * lordcfg: game options, tournaments, a full player editor, the item and monster tables, LADY events, Other Places, reset (see lordcfg). * Not included: lord.js's inter-BBS game server, RIP graphics, and lord.js's JavaScript IGMs. ===== Running on Kalgoorlie Retro BBS ===== ^ Door ^ Directory ^ What it is ^ | LORD 4.06 | /sbbs/xtrn/lord4 | The original. | | LORD FP (DOS) | /sbbs/xtrn/lordf | LORD FP's DOS LORD.EXE in a LORD 4.06 game, under dosemu2. | | LORD FP (Linux) | /sbbs/xtrn/lordfp | The native Linux door. | | LORD - Windows Server | (rlogin to win2k22) | LORD Server's game A. | ===== The pages ===== ^ Page ^ What it covers ^ | dosemu2 for Synchronet | Setting up dosemu2 so Synchronet on Linux can run DOS doors. | | Doors in Synchronet | Adding DOS and Linux doors in SCFG; drop file types; examples. | | The DOS version | Installing LORDFP.ZIP; upgrading LORD 4.06. | | The Linux version | Installing LORDFPL.ZIP; taking over lord.js; DOS IGMs from Linux. | | The Windows version | Installing LORDFPW.ZIP; Synchronet and Mystic on Windows, step by step; DOS IGMs in DOSBox-X. | | Command line | Every option of lord and lordcfg. | | lordcfg | The set-up program, screen by screen. | | Game options | Every setting in lord.ini. | | Drop files | Which drop files are read and how. | | In-Game Modules | Other Places, 3RDPARTY.DAT, installing IGMs, MAINT.BAT. | | LADY scripts | Forest, Inn and bank events; 4.07 events; testing scripts. | | Data files | The game's files, and what is shared with LORD 4.06 and lord.js. | | Differences | From lord.js and LORD 4.06. | | Building from source | The Linux build and the DOS and Windows cross-builds. | | Troubleshooting | Common problems. | | Credits | Who made what. |
